Dessert of the Day: Morticia from Melt Bakery

Behind the Burner: Dessert of the Day: Morticia from Melt Bakery

Now that we've rung in the New Year, it's about time to ring in some new food trends as well. And this year, we're backing away from cupcakes and moving towards an old-school dessert that everyone craves now and again: homemade ice cream sandwiches from Melt Bakery .

Melt Bakery specializes in ice cream sandwiches in countless flavors. Now, I know that doesn't sound impressive, but because of how delectable both Melt Bakery's ice cream and cookies are, it is. With over 20 oddly named combinations of cookies and ice cream flavors, there seem to be no limits to what you can order, and there is something for everyone. From a traditional sugar cookie with vanilla ice cream to a coconut cookie with passion fruit ice cream, Melt's really makes this boring dessert exciting and creative. They even deliver!

I recently had the Morticia. I found the name intriguing and the contents of the dessert more than satisfying. The Morticia is made from creamy Malted Chocolate Rum Ice Cream in between two moist Crackly Chocolate Cookies, a mouthwatering combination.

Tip: Skip the cupcakes and serve ice cream sandwiches as treats for your next party!

Behind the Burner: Snack of the Day: Goji Gourmet Cookies

Handmade and preservative-free, these chewy little morsels come in lots of interesting flavors like Orange Mint Chip and Cherry Cacao. Each of the cookie flavors incorporates Goji berries, a "superfood" with more antioxidants than both pomegranates and blueberries! These power-packed cookies also boast more iron than spinach or steak and 18 different Amino Acids to boost metabolism. Besides being good for you, they also fit neatly in the palm of your hand for pop-in-your-mouth snacking.

Tip: For a quick, sweet fix, stay fit and munch on four Goji Gourmet Cookies for just 100 calories. They're definitely worth it!
