Beer of the Day: Peak Organic Pomegranate Wheat

Behind the Burner: Beer of the Day: Peak Organic Pomegranate Wheat

Pomegranate beer? That's right. One of the newest brews from Peak Organic Brewing Company, this beer incorporates a blend of organic wheat, pomegranate and açai juices to create the perfect refreshing beer for spring and summer. While it's not as sweet as many of the other fruit-flavored beers out there, this beer strikes a nice balance of spicy, sweet and tangy flavors. Tip: Pair this crisp brew with lighter courses like salads, goat cheese or fruit.

As if that weren't enough, this is a beer you can feel good about drinking. "As foodies, we've always appreciated artisanal, locally sourced products so we partnered with a local organic wheat farmer. It's a win-win because the wheat is superb in quality and supports the local economy", said Geoff Masland from Peak.

If you're interested in tasting more where this came from, stop by the Village Pourhouse on April 21st for their Organic Beer Tasting in honor of Earth Day. Cheers to that!

Dish of the Day: Quartino Bottega Organica's Pizza with Stracchino and Arugula

Behind the Burner: Dish of the Day: Quartino Bottega Organica\'s Pizza with Stracchino and Arugula

Quartino Bottega Organica wooed us with its rustic, low-key charm and organic, whole wheat options. Simple, good ingredients create satisfying dishes that really sing. One of the stars of the menu is their Pizza with Stracchino and Arugula. The whole wheat crust is impressively chewy and the arugula is peppery but it's the cheese that really sells this thing. Stracchino is an Italian cow's milk with a mild flavor and slight acidic tang. When melted, it is divinely creamy like brie but still pliable like a fresh mozzarella. Pair it with one of the wine list's many organic bottles for an excellent Earth Week meal.
Tip: Grab a spot in their quaint outdoor back patio.
