Behind the Burner: Jalapeno Blue Cheese Burger by Divya Gugnani

INGREDIENTS:

1 tbsp. olive oil
6 jalapeno peppers, seeded and diced
1 small white onion, small dice
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 lb. ground sirloin
8 oz. blue cheese, crumbled
Salt, to taste
4 slices Swiss cheese
4 hamburger buns, split

PREPARATION:

1. Preheat grill for high heat.

2. In a small saute pan, heat oil over medium heat and add diced jalapenos and onion. Saute until soft. Add garlic and continue to cook until garlic is just browned. Set aside until cool.

3. Meanwhile, in a large bowl combine ground sirloin blue cheese and salt. Add cooled jalapeno and onion mixture. Mix well with hands.

4. Form meat into four large patties.

5. Place patties on hot grill, cook for about 5 minutes on each side for a medium burger. Place a slice of cheese on each patty until melted.

6. Serve burgers on hamburger buns and add favorite toppings.
