Cheese and Beer Bread by Divya Gugnani

Makes 6-8 servings
INGREDIENTS:
3 cups all-purpose flour
2 tbsp. sugar
1 tbsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
2 tsp. Italian dried herbs
2 1/2 tbsp. honey
1 cup grated cheddar cheese
1 bottle (12 oz.) room-tempertaure beer
4 Tbsp. (half a stick) butter, melted
PREPARATION:
1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Grease a 9x5x3 inch loaf pan.
2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, herbs, and salt. Using a wooden spoon, stir the beer and honey into the dry ingredients until just mixed.
3. Pour half the melted butter into the loaf pan. Then spoon the batter into the pan, and pour the rest of the butter on top of the batter. Sprinkle cheese over the top of the batter.
4. Bake until top is golden brown, or for about 60 minutes. (A toothpick/knife inserted in the middle should come out clean). Serve warm.
