How did you become interested in appliances?
I've always been an appliance enthusiast, and three years ago, I had the opportunity to join one of the nation's largest appliance dealers, AJ Madison.

Do you have a favorite brand of appliances you like to use?
I have favorites in each category; however, it depends on the needs of the customer as far as what appliance I would recommend.

Which appliance brand is most popular at AJ Madison?
I have a different brand for every appliance. I believe in getting the best that each manufacturer has to offer.

What is your least favorite kitchen appliance?
I've seen my share of useless appliances, but the electric can opener is my least favorite. Aside from the general waste of electricity and counter space (unless you have arthritis or some other debilitating, degenerative condition that makes opening a can difficult), take five seconds of your time to open it yourself with a regular can opener.

What kinds of appliance brands would you suggest to someone remodeling a kitchen?
There are many great options and designs that, no matter what style kitchen you are looking to design, there's one out there for you.

What is the first thing someone remodeling a kitchen for the first time should know?
Remodeling is fun, so first create a budget; once you have the budget, allocate what you want to spend on cabinets and how much you would like to spend on appliances. Having a floor plan and kitchen design will always make the appliance shopping much easier.

What is the most common mistake people make when remodeling?
The biggest mistake people make is not knowing the correct sizes and the proper electrical requirements. Always make sure you have enough space and power for the appliances you select.

If you could only choose one appliance to have in your kitchen, what would it be?
From a male perspective, I would have to go with the microwave. However, from a female point of view, I would have to go with the dishwasher. To please everyone, I would say the coffee maker.

What is your most important tip, trick or technique you can offer appliance shoppers?
Try to put as many of the appliances under the counter and not have the depths deeper than your counter top.
