Top 10 Toasts to the Irish

Behind the Burner: Top 10 Toasts to the Irish

Today we wear green, listen to U2, do a jig, pull pints and quaff whiskey to celebrate Irish culture and St. Patrick's Day. Here's our favorite lucky Irish toasts and blessings. 'Sláinte!'

1. Here's to a wet night and a dry morning.

2. As you slide down the banister of life, may the splinters never point in the wrong direction.

3. May the hinges of our friendship never grow rusty. And our ale never turn musty.

4. Let schoolmasters puzzle their brain
With grammar and nonsense and learning;
Good liquor, I stoutly maintain
Give genius a better discerning

5. It is better to spend money like there's no tomorrow
than to spend tonight like there's no money!

6. Merry met, and merry part,
I drink to thee with all my heart

7. If you're enough lucky to be Irish...
You're lucky enough!

8. Here's to a long life and a merry one
a quick death and an easy one
a pretty girl and an honest one
a cold beer and another one!

9. May you always have a clean shirt, a clear conscience, and enough coins in your pocket to buy a pint!

10. An Irishman is never drunk as long as he can hold onto one blade of grass to keep from falling off the earth.
