The Ultimate Foodie Tour: "Chefs vs. City" Premiere Screening with Aarón Sànchez

Behind the Burner: The Ultimate Foodie Tour: \

Last night, I had the good fortune of attending a special screening of Chefs vs. City (to air on The Food Network) courtesy of Aarón Sánchez of Centrico. I managed to resist my temptation for a margarita and opted for a glass of Malbec instead. The night was full of delicious Mexican food that Chef Sánchez made special with an exuberant amount of love. His tacos have the flavors of authentic Mexican food, are polished by high quality ingredients and have fresh proteins, all of the elements that give them an upscale flair.

I was able to see a few notable chefs at this screening. I chatted with Marcus Samuelsson about his upcoming book, which he seems very excited about. I got the scoop from Franklin Becker that he's going to finally open his new restaurant, Abe & Arthur, during Fashion Week. The opening has been delayed due to NYC permits–we know how Manhattan permits can be a major obstacle course!

We previewed the show that promises to be an ultimate foodie tour. In each episode of Chefs vs. City Food Network chefs Aarón Sánchez and Chris Cosentino challenge two local foodies in a food adventure to locate the city's biggest, boldest, most unexpected food places. From wine stomping in Malibu, to eating the spiciest curry in all of NYC and even braving the coldest room in Las Vegas, Chef vs. City will test the skills of both teams as they race to the finish line.

A quick chat with Ted Allen and a few others outdoors wrapped up a fun evening. We debated how food shows on Television have affected the average American. Have they made you more conscious of what you eat? Has it increased your respect for chefs and their hard work and artistry? Are you willing to pay more when you dine out?

I'll let you decide.
