One Girl in a Pear Tree: My Martini Week
Martini Week and its associated list of participating restaurants had me all in a tizzy. Sponsored by Thrillist and Tasting Table, Martini Week piqued my interest quicker than a fresh burger and fries. There's nothing this girl loves more than a well made drink at the end of the work day!
After scanning the decently sized list, I settled on Oceana. I'd like to say I originally chose it because of its beautiful décor or startling seafood menu, but it was mostly just because my dad worked in the McGraw-Hill Building attached and I wanted to see what had taken over the Strawberry I used to frequent in my high school days.
What I wasn't expecting was an unusual martini: The Pear Tree by mixologist Ektoras Binikos. Smooth, delicious and quite unexpected, I had a hard time keep my hands off my drink. The pear flavor was prominent, as the fruit was muddled in a glass and included my favorite vodka, Grey Goose, flavored as well with you guessed it, pear. The addition of cinnamon on top had my friend Laura holding me back from asking for an additional martini, or five, from our bartender.
Tip: If you're in the mood for a cocktail and you're front and center Midtown, stop by Oceana. You're sure to be delighted by the classy interior, wonderful waitstaff and of course, inspired drinks.
