Harold Goodness
You've probably heard the saying: parents shouldn't pick favorites; they're not supposed to love one child more than the other. Well...when it comes to Behind the Burner chefs, I guess I'm partial...I can't help it!
Harold Dieterle was one of my favorite chefs during filming. When you watch him in action on our Video page, you'll understand why. Beyond his charm and good looks you'll find a man who is simply passionate about food-- creating it, cooking it, and chatting about it. You'll see it in the way his eyes light up with childlike delight as he spills the beans on duck fat and sriracha sauce, the two secret ingredients to his stellar spicy duck meatballs (see Recipes.) Be sure to check out his favorite purveyor for duck using our Featured Promotions.
If you make it to New York City's West Village, check out Harold's restaurant, Perilla, for a true taste of his unparalleled creativity and talent. Not bad for a guy who discovered his inner chef by taking a home economics class to meet girls (see Behind the Experts!)
We know he won the judge's favor in Season One of Bravo's Top Chef, but more importantly, he won our hearts in this episode.
