Dining-Inspired Design
Iranian born, England-based designer Ali Siavoshi has made a name for himself elevating everyday objects into playful, unexpected and approachable lighting designs. He's transformed everything from coat hangers to umbrellas into funky illuminations. With "Hungry" and "Hammered" (both available through Fabbian), he turns his attention to the art of dining.
Siavoshi's "Hungry" light is made of chrome-plated cutlery, the larger version measuring in at 115 cm and the smaller at 43 cm. For his "Hammered" ceiling light, 42 different pieces of drinking glasses are up-ended to shine down below. Playful? Yes. Cool? Definitely. Functional? Absolutely. With Siavoshi's series, commonplace objects—so often taken for granted—are given a new purpose and presence. And who doesn't like dining in style?
