Dessert of the Day: Katy's Competitive Brownies

Some food bloggers come with a lot more than an just an appetite and laptop in hand. In fact, some in particular come with some delicious dessert baking talent. Katy Alas is one of them. Her writing skills, as seen on SugarLaws.com, may have some competition with her cooking ones. Alas' brownies, decked in a heavy, yet subtle sweetness of chocolate, with a hint of cinnamon and espresso are living proof (well until they're all devoured).

Many of NYC's hottest food bloggers are in full baking mode until Wednesday, June 9th, for "Best Desserts Competition", a benefit for The Lamp at Double Windsor Bar in Brooklyn. These foodies will be grilled, or rather, baked by celebrity judges, including Behind the Burner's, Divya Gugnani.

Admission gets you drink specials, an entry to the raffle, and a tasting plate of all the deserts entered. All proceeds will help benefit the Lamp's nonprofit organization to reform and improve media.

Watch out contestants, looks like this dessert of the day may be some tough, yet tasty, competition.
