A Pretty Pour: 1800® Tequila
Combining two of my great loves—art and tequila —the new, limited edition "Essential Artists" bottles by 1800® Tequila showcase the work of twelve very talented, modern-day artists. This cool set exemplifies the quality of undiscovered talent across the U.S., and places art directly in the public's hands. The series features eleven refreshingly hip designs selected from over 15,000 online submissions at 1800Tequila.com, plus one "celebrity artist" bottle designed by Shepard Fairey's Studio Number One. Fairey is probably best known for his iconic Obama "Hope" posters, some of the most memorable images from the last presidential campaign.
An added bonus? Turn the bottle upside down and the top becomes a shot glass—ensuring a perfect (and pretty) pour each go.
Only a limited number of bottles have been produced, making them a mod collector's item. They go for $24.99 each, and local retailers can be found by plugging in your zip code at 1800Tequila.com.
This is the second year for the competition, and 1800® Tequila plans to launch a third contest later this year. "Emerging artists can struggle for years before seeing their work recognized on a national scale, but the creative genius behind the submissions and the incredible demand from consumers has allowed us to expand this program," says Elwyn Gladstone, VP of Marketing for Proximo (who import 1800® Tequila).
Supporting up-and-coming artists? Tequila you can enjoy both on and off the shelf? I'll cheers to that.
