Trump Up Thanksgiving with D'Artagnan Turkey
You've probably seen it before: the cartooned turkey pathetically clutching a sign that reads "Eat More Ham." My response? "Not a chance!" Now that I know about D'Artagnan's fresh, all-natural turkey selections, this tryptophan trickster hasn't a prayer in all its plumage.
D'Artagnan, a favorite poultry, beef, pork, and game purveyor among top chefs and four-star restaurants, stands above the commercialized companies. All their birds are humanely farm-raised in free-range environments, benefiting from lots of fresh air, sunlight and all-natural feed, with no antibiotics or growth hormones ever used. They come to you fresh, never frozen, so you end up with juicy, flavorful meat worthy of being served on your once-a-year good china.
When you flock to the supermarket and lug home a glacial, mass-produced excuse for a turkey that has been trussed, packaged in opaque plastic and stuffed in a stretchy fishnet, you never know whether you're buying a genetically-modified ball of fat or a big-boned bird with meager meat.
To the contrary, you are always safe with D'Artagnan, where you can choose from an enticing variety of turkeys. Their signature Heritage birds come from slow-growing, Standard Bronze and Bourbon Red stock. The Wild American turkeys boast a "slightly gamey undertone" and pair perfectly with a glass of red wine. You may want to consider roasting it with a sausage-bourbon-pecan stuffing. Or opt for a Certified Organic turkey, raised on an all-vegetarian diet of 100 percent whole grains and pure spring water.
Here are a few more mouthwatering methods of serving D'Artagnan turkey:
- Glaze with a duck demi-glace and truffle butter for a savory flavor.
- After seasoning the cavity with salt and pepper, stuff with thyme, sage, and yellow onion wedges, rubbing the outside of the bird with oil.
- Roasting a D'Artagnan turkey with apple cider, apples, raisins, peppercorns and vegetables will render a hearty, savory sauce that knocks out powdered or canned brown gravy.
The list of cooking options seems longer than the pre-Thanksgiving line in the grocery store (See Recipes).
Make this Thanksgiving extra delicious by visiting Behind the Deals and taking advantage of D'Artagnan's special Behind the Burner promotion. Don't wait! D'Artagnan turkeys are only available in a very limited supply.
