Hungry for the Hamptons: The 2010 Great Chefs Dinner

Behind the Burner: Hungry for the Hamptons: The 2010 Great Chefs Dinner

For most people three words come to mind when they think of the Hamptons: ritzy, beachy, and first class. But for Eric Ripert, Top Chef Judge and Executive Chef of Le Bernardin, the Hamptons is something to be hungry for.

"It's a magical place. I feel blessed to spend time here and I take great pleasure in supporting the locals: our winemakers, growers, farmers, fisherman. Not only is it fun but it helps keep the character and soul of the Hamptons the way it is," he says.

This Sunday, you can spend some time wining and dining with Mr. Ripert himself, along with other master chefs such as Tom Colicchio, Claudia Flemmind, Tom Schaudel and many more at the Great Chef's Dinner. Beginning at 5pm, stop imbibing on the waves and indulge in Hamptons fine dining at the Great Chefs Dinner. Join the chef's at their tasting stations, and indulge in on a VIP Dinner in Jeff's Kitchen. But before you hit the LIE (or decide to be spontaneous and board a private jet), discover what these great chefs suggest when sharing their out-east epicurean secrets:

"Invest a nice new sturdy grill brush. Brush and oil your Weber before and after every use. Otherwise you'll be leaving half your dinner stuck to the grill..."

- Jason Weiner,Chef/ Partner of Almond Restaurant

"July and August are the height of Striped Bass season on the North Fork. I love to get a pristine local fish and grill it whole, serve it with some local Heirloom tomatoes and extra virgin olive oil and feast with friends!"

- Gerry Hayden, North Fork Table & Inn

"In the summer I always enjoy visiting the local East End farmer's markets
to find the freshest ingredients and create a home cooked feast."

Laurent Tourondel, Chef and Owner BLT Burger

"The best part about owning a restaurant in the Hamptons is that I get to
hand select all of the great produce from the local farmers right on my way
to work."

-Bryan Futerman, Foody's

Looks like all this Hampton hype is most definitely worth a visit (and a bite).
