Bloody Orange Mary
Not a sparkling wine fan or crave a brunch drink with a stronger kick? Try this citrusy twist on a classic cocktail. Mixology lore says that Fernand Petiot first created the Bloody Mary at Harry's New York Bar in Paris, and later perfected his spicy concoction at King Cole Bar, St. Regis Hotel in New York City. Others contend that King Cole's signature cocktail started there. Wherever the origins, the iconic drink gets a springtime lift with juicy blood oranges, sugary citrus and a deep red color.
INGREDIENTS:
3 Blood oranges, juiced
Sprinkle of Salt
Sprinkle of Black pepper
4 oz. tomato Juice
1/ lime, juiced
3 oz. Vodka
Tabasco sauce, add to your liking
Ice, enough to fill glass
PREPARATION:
1. Squeeze oranges into a separate container than the drinking glass and remove any seeds.
2. In the bottom of a high ball glass, add salt and pepper. Fill glass with ice.
3. Add orange juice, tomato juice, lime juice, vodka, and Tabasco. With a spoon or dinner knife, stir the Bloody Mary mixture from the bottom assuring all ingredients are incorporated.
4. Garnish with a wedge of blood orange.
Remember experts always chill the glass in advance.
