Artisanal Easter Basket
Children wake up on Easter morning and go hunting for hidden Easter eggs, hoping to find a sugary surprise. If an oversized marshmallow Peep stuffed with jelly beans is not your ideal surprise, that doesn't mean you're too old for your own Easter basket.
Are you in need of a gift for your hostess this Easter? Or would you like to send an extra special thank you to your parish convent for all their hard work this Lenten season? Consider a tasteful wicker basket packed with port wines, specialty crackers and chocolate covered espresso beans. Add in a few of Artisanal's premium cheeses into the mix, and the Easter basket will be so decandent that the recipient will be just as ecstatic as the children with marshmallow shaped chicks.
When creating your Easter baskets this season, be sure to include these delicious cheeses, as no holiday or celebration is complete without a variety of fragrant fromage.
Barely Buzzed Cheese:
Artisanal's Barely Buzzed Cheese won a Blue Ribbon at the American Cheese Society in 2008. Direct from Utah, the rind of the Barely Buzzed Cheese has been rubbed with a blend of espresso and lavender, which permeate flavorfully through to the core. The Barely Buzzed Cheese pairs nicely with a Sangiovese Wine, which can serve as another delightful addition to your grown-up Easter basket.
Hudson Valley Camembert:
Artisanal's Camembert from the Hudson Valley is a soft-ripened, creamy square of cheesy Heaven. The Camembert is made from the milk of Old Chatham's heard of 100 East Fresian sheep, and combined with hormone-free cow's milk. This cheese is buttery and melt-in-your-mouth smooth, making it an ideal accompaniment for a bubbly glass of champagne.
Nettle Meadow Kunik:
An interesting mixture of goat's milk and Jersey cow's milk, the Nettle Meadow Kunik cheese is an Easter must-have. Its kunik is a wheel of triple creme with a bloomy, white rind and a tangy, creamy flavor. Place it in your basket alongside a box of multi-grain crackers and a marble cheese board, perfect for slicing off the rind and spreading on the buttery deliciousness.
Bayley Hazen Blue:
From the raw milk of a herd of Avershire cows comes Bayley Hazen Blue Cheese. Bayley Hazen Blue has an earthy, lively flavor. The rind resembles tree bark, as it is woody, nautral looking, and firm. A Riesling or Tawny port would be the ultimate pairing for this Bayley Hazen Blue Cheese.
All these delicious wines and cheeses will make up a lovely Easter basket for your favorite grown-up, be sure to toss in a chocolate bunny or purple Peep as a good omen.
